Sharon Santoni's Book Signing at Chateau Sonoma

Sharon Santoni's Book Signing at Chateau Sonoma

Many of us know and love Sharon Santoni; however, if you are unfamiliar with her, the best way to describe her is, “the queen of all things French.”

I was introduced to Sharon through my friend, Morgan Miller (the founder of Evoke magazine). Morgan was knee deep in pursuing all things French for the magazine, when she happened upon Sharon’s blog My French Country Home

Sharon, an Englishwoman now living in Normandy, France, is best known for her impeccable style, blog, and beautiful photos of France, and now author. There are very few who are able to translate the French lifestyle as well as Sharon.

The French lifestyle guru published her first book in August of 2015 titled My Stylish French Girlfriends, and when I discovered she was embarking on a U.S. book tour, I asked her if she might be interested in making a stop at Chateau Sonoma. To all of our delight, she agreed, and we patiently awaited her arrival!

I reached out to a friend, Susan Williams, owner of Cake Bloom to bake macarons for the event, which were truly some of the best I’ve ever had.  We were also lucky enough to have rosé imported from Burgundy, France by Brian Harenza of Artisan Wine Imports, incredible floral arrangements from our Cornerstone neighbors Tesoro, and photography from Sarah Deragon of Portraits to the People

It was wonderful to have people visit from Sacramento, Danville, and the surrounding areas in Sonoma. We had a great turnout, way more than we ever imagined. If you were able to make it, merci beaucoup!

During her visit, Sharon spoke a little bit about her lifestyle in Normandy, and how she loved creating the book because it was about real people in real homes. The photos in the publication reflect the authentic styling of the women’s lives, and although each is different, they are all uniquely beautiful. I loved her quote, “My stylish French girlfriends, but not stylized.”

When you look at most magazines – everything is coiffed and perfect, making it untouchable, the way the book plays out is how real people live. Sharon describes the book as, "a reflection of the daily lives of twenty French women whose style I admire.  Each woman has a story to tell; each is living her life passionately, and each has a beautiful home that she opens for us.”

I am excited to share that I will be visiting Sharon in Normandy during my trip to France this September, where we will be working on putting together a buying and exploratory group trip. You can sign up to receive more information about that in the email subscription form below!
